摘要：Described is a method and apparatus for preventing the virus infection ofcomputer systems from a diskette carrying a boot sector virus. System ROM code in thecomputer system includes a routine that is executed before passing control to abootable media. This routine is designed to execute when Power On Self Test hascompleted and the boot record from the bootable media, either hardfile or diskette, hasbeen loaded into system memory. The boot record is scanned for the presence of knownboot sector viruses, signatures of which are stored in FLASH ROM within the computersystem.
